Tintagel - The famous Atlantic Coast village!

Good morning, and happy Friday! We hope you have had a great week.

Today’s blog is all about the Cornish village Tintagel. Located on the Atlantic Coast of Cornwall, Tintagel is also known as Trevena, or Tre War Venydh in Cornish, which means village on a mountain.

Tintagel is most famous for its ties to King Arthur, and according to claims made by Geoffrey of Monmouth in his 12th century book, ‘History of the Kings of Britain’, Tintagel Castle was the home of King Arthur and also his father, Uther Pendragon. Over the years many authors also added their own twists to the story and introduced the likes of Merlin, Guinevere, and the Knights or the Round Table.

The village inspired Arnold Bax's symphonic poem 'Tintagel', and it had also appeared in a few films including the 1979 film, ‘Dracula’.

There is plenty to do in Tintagel. There is the castle and King Arthur’s Great Halls to explore, and you cannot forget to go and see the beautiful views that the Atlantic Coast has to offer. The Village of Tintagel itself has a lot to offer as well. There is an abundance of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and other landmarks to visit.
